Oushak rugs, also spelled as Ushak, are considered to be one of Turkey’s finest traditional rugs, some of them that are thought to be made around the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries have been considered masterpieces by many critics and have been attributed to the city of Oushak. These rugs are what made Oushak a center for carpet and rug weaving during the rejuvenation of oriental rug production. Carpets and rugs made in Oushak are known for their silky texture and high quality, well dyed colours. Some colours used in Oushak carpets and rugs are cinnomon, terracotta, tint, gold, blue, green, ivory, saffron and gray. The patterns that can be seen in Oushak rugs are floral patterns like trees, various flowers and sometimes leaves as well.
