Balkan rugs are a type of rug made in an area of the same name, more specifically in Eastern Serbia. These rugs are mostly made in a particular town in Eastern Serbia named Pirot. Pirot is a town near Bulgaria and it is known for its stunning kilim rugs. These kilim rugs are famous for their well made weavings. Most Pirot rugs are made out of only wool, but wool on cotton rugs are also very popular. As for the colours used in the Balkan rugs, it is valid to use any colour while weaving a Balkan rug but the colours mainly used in these rugs are red, blue, green, white and black. All sizes of Balkan rugs can be found on the market, but traditionally made Balkan rugs are mostly large as they were used in large spaces like palaces and royal family houses.
