The Yagcibedir carpets are a form of carpets made in west of Anatolia, more specifically in Balikesir which is a city now located in the Marmara region of Turkey. It is believed it was first produced by former nomadic tribes named Yayci Yoruks who have been living around Sindirgi and Bigadic villages. It is made using lambswool, and commonly include the colours red, indigo blue and white in its patterns, shades of cream, red and brown can also be seen in some of the rugs. The Yagcibedir carpets are famous for its creative patterns. Thought the patterns in these rugs are usually very simple, each rug is made to tell a story using these simple patterns and colours. The patterns in the Yagcibedir carpets include sun, eagles, trees, cherries, tulips, stars and apples. Each pattern used in these carpets have a certain meaning regarding the centuries long history and the fascinating culture of Turkey.
