Kemaliye Carpet, also known as Egin Carpet is a type of carpet produced by Turkmen people who have settled in Erzincan for a short period of time. The name Egin carpet comes from the old Turkmen settlement Egin. It appears that the Turkmens had made this type of carpets since the twelveth century. Considering the rich cultural heritage and the history the Kemaliye carpet has, it is only natural that it is going to be rare and possibly pricey. Kemaliye carpets have extremely thin texture which makes it considerably hard to produce. Some colours commonly used in Kemaliye carpets are indigo blue, red, white, green, blue, pink and brown. The patterns used in Kemaliye carpets usually carry pieces of Turkmen culture and include flowers, trees and other plants. Some of the Kemaliye carpets also carry elements from the Caucasus culture.
